ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION/JOB SCOPE:
Reporting to the Deputy General Manager and the General Manager, the
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for facilitating and overseeing all
collection of fees, reconciliation of fees and disbursement of payments.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of all administrative tasks and
procedural functions of accounting.
2. Fully supervises and takes responsibility for accounting staff
assigned by the Deputy Director General.
3. Oversees the collection of defendant money and maintains
payment records/reports.
4. Oversees receipt and receiving of all transactions within accounting
Department.
5. Make sure daily deposit balance with computer balance summary
6. Prepares and monitors deposits of money collected from defendants in the bank
accounts.
7. Distributes collected funds to county agencies and other departments, as well as to victims
refund due
8. Reconcile all bank statements
9. Maintains records of monies collected from defendants, balances, deposits and
compiles accurate reports as required to meet departmental needs.
10. Assesses costs to defendants as ordered by court or assesses assessed program fees
to the defendants.
11. Responsible for tax filings, IRS reports
12. Works closely with the Auditor, Treasurer, and other Tom Green County Agencies
13. Complies with department policies and the TDCJ-CJAD Code of Ethics.
14. Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Deputy Manager

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and provide proof of liability insurance. Must have completed a high school diploma or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.

It is desirable to have completed two years of college studies in accounting in a college or
business school or four years of accounting experience.

Good knowledge of the use of word processing software; with the ability to type at least 40
words per minute and use 10 keys.

Know the use of various photocopiers and fax machines, as well as
the use of multi-line telephones.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to make rational and justifiable decisions
  • Knowledge of skills employed in supervising techniques for organizing and coordinating work responsibilities and tasks.
  • Ability to use personal computer, general office equipment.
  • Be able to work independently and efficiently
  • Competent in interpersonal relationships. Possess skills to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Must have the ability to be physically present at work on a regular basis during assigned working hours. A strong presence is required.
  • Must have the ability to deal with high stress situations and the physical ability to complete all phases of responsibilities and tasks.
  • Must have demonstrated a team spirit attitude and a desire to execute work standards including spontaneous assignments must be maintained.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Bookkeeping Supervisor works under the general supervision of the Deputy Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial duties of the department.
